Glenn Hartas:
You're listening to Way FM 105.3—your positive alternative.
And today we're talking about something that sounds quite royal… but has nothing to do with royalty, dental crowns. Here to walk us through it is our expert, Dr Bing from Innova Dental. G'day mate!

Dr Bing:
Hi Glenn - great to be back as always!

Glenn Hartas:
So Dr Bing what is a dental crown?

Dr Bing:
Good question! A crown is essentially a strong, protective cover we place over a tooth to restore its shape, strength, and function. You can think of it like a helmet for a tooth that’s been weakened, cracked, or heavily filled.

Glenn Hartas:
So it’s not just cosmetic?

Dr Bing:
Not at all, it’s about saving the tooth. We use crowns when a tooth is too damaged for a filling to hold, after root canal therapy, or when there's a big crack or if there’s been a fracture. It's how we protect the tooth, restore the bite and keep our patients chewing comfortably.

Glenn Hartas:
And are they obvious or clunky?

Dr Bing:
Modern porcelain crowns look natural. We colour-match them to your smile, and once it's in place, most people forget it’s even there. At Innova Dental, we also have the CEREC chairside technology to design and fabricate same day porcelain crowns so it’s all done in one visit. We were the first practice to bring this technology to Launceston.

Glenn Hartas:
Fantastic. And how long do they last?

Dr Bing:
With the right home care and professional maintenance, crowns can last 10 to 15 years or more.

Glenn Hartas:
So if someone’s been told they need a crown, or has a tooth that’s been hanging in there a bit too long—what should they do?

Dr Bing:
Come see us for a full assessment. We’ll show you what’s going on, walk you through the options, and tailor a plan that suits your needs and budget. You can book online at innovadental.com.au or just give us a call.

Glenn Hartas:
That’s Dr Bing from Innova Dental—real solutions, no surprises. Thanks again, mate!

Dr Bing:
Thanks Glenn—always a pleasure.
