You’re listening to Way FM 105.3—your positive alternative.
Now, here’s a topic we all think about but no one really wants to talk about it —bad breath. Thankfully, we’ve got Dr Bing from Innova Dental here to give us the truth—without the awkwardness. Welcome back, Dr Bing!
Dr Bing:
Hi Glenn—thanks for having me back for this… let’s call it a breath of fresh air!
Glenn Hartas:
(Laughs) Love it! Okay, let’s just get straight into it—what causes bad breath?
Dr Bing:
Great question. While things like garlic or coffee can play a part, chronic bad breath is usually caused by bacteria in the mouth. It can be a sign of plaque build-up, gum disease, decay or infection, even if you don’t feel any pain.
Glenn Hartas:
So it’s not just what you ate?
Dr Bing:
Exactly. In most cases, bad breath is your mouth trying to tell you something’s off. And the good news is, it’s usually easy to fix when caught early with a proper clean or checkup.
Glenn Hartas:
And what about all those mints and sprays - do they work?
Dr Bing:
They might mask the smell for a bit, but they don’t treat the cause. If bad breath is recurring, it’s time to take a deeper look! A comprehensive examination helps us spot what’s really going on.
Glenn Hartas:
So if someone’s has this problem… they shouldn’t be embarrassed?
Dr Bing:
Not at all. It’s more common than people realise, and at Innova Dental we treat every patient with kindness and zero judgement. Whether it’s a scale and clean or something more, we’ll walk you through it.
Glenn Hartas:
I love that – dental care without the judgement!
Dr Bing:
Absolutely. A healthy mouth should look good, feel good, and smell good too.
Glenn Hartas:
So if someone’s ready to get things checked out, what’s the best next step?
Dr Bing:
Just book in! You can jump online at innovadental.com.au to book online, or give us a call. We’ll take care of the rest.
